York + OOTD

York(1)
The Sunshine, a deviant to the usual UK weather

So today’s my very first fashion-related blog post (a little excited!) Over the weekend, my family spontaneously went to York for a nice relaxing shopping trip – let me tell you; we needed it! Over the last few weeks, my family have had a busy schedule and there was no point in time that everyone was together so it was nice to have a break and what better way to spend the break doing one of my favourite pastimes: shopping!

Looking’ way too excited!

I’ve never been to York before so it was so nice to go somewhere new. The long drive was really relaxing. To be honest, I’ve just always loved long drives to places maybe because I like to day dream a lot but in the car, it’s even better with a lovely change of scenery. My dad played some of the family classics too. We used to listen to Rod Stewart during every long car rides when I was younger which would probably explain how I can embarrassingly remember all the lyrics.

I actually had the intention to buy a Michael Kors bag when I went but it was way too out of my price range for bags at the moment.  but we did go in and have a snoop around, I know which one I’m going to buy when payday arrives for sure. I’m still having a think about getting one though, they are great bags but I don’t know if they are 100% worth it but I guess if I’m going to be using it for university every day then it’s worth every penny *tries very hard to justify need for an MK bag*

What are your opinions on Michael Kors bags?

On a side note, I really did love the shop – I felt that they had the best staff than all the other shops in the outlet. As someone who works part time in retail, being smiley and friendly just makes the experience so much better!

Anyway, on to my OOTD – as I said above it was such a lovely sunny day which isn’t usual in the UK so whenever sun does hit the country you’ve got to really make use of it! I wore a multicoloured floral dress with cropped denim jacket and sandals that matched the pastel colours on my dress. I’m using my Marc B bag which is also a lovely nude/pastel colour to go with the overall colour scheme.

I actually got the dress and jacket from Depop, if you haven’t heard of it before; it’s basically an app where you can sell your unused items to other people – sort of like an eBay and Instagram hybrid. I’m selling some items on depop myself – as @pnarvas.

  • The dress is originally from Miss Selfridges but I bought it from this depop user.
  • The jacket is originally from Topshop, bought from this depop user.
  • Shoes – Hush Puppies
  • Marc B Ashley Tote Bag in Nude
  • The charm on my necklace is also from a lovely depop user who makes them and sells them really cheap!

Surprisingly, I only ended up buying one pair of shoes from Timberland – I was proud of my self-control but also regret not buying a lot as I sat back in the car on the way home. #shopaholicproblems

  1. Definitely have to embrace the weather over there in the UK, I have heard way too much about how cold it is. I think I would fit in well there, though โ€“ I prefer the cold. Speaking of the UK I will be visiting next June/July. I have never been there but Iโ€™m excited in particular to visit London and Liverpool. (We should probably organise a meetup. :))

I used to buy a lot of โ€˜bought but unusedโ€™ clothes online but now I prefer to buy them in person. I get a chance to try it on and itโ€™s hard to determine what the quality is like.

To be honest I donโ€™t really like Michael Kors bags. It seems that everyone has them, and I donโ€™t like their style too much. I think though, if you are going to use a handbag every day and donโ€™t spend money buying so many, then it is worth the money. Especially for the quality. I spent just over $300 on a bag from Fossil but the quality is excellent and I think it will last a while, and I made sure I picked a style I liked too.

    1. Are you? That is SUPER exciting – we should definitely plan a meet up along with any other UK bloggers!

Thats why I usually only go for branded clothes, the ones which I know the quality of already like! For example, I don’t tend to buy used H&M stuff seeing as I know the quality is sometimes quite random (sometimes they are good, sometimes they aren’t) you’d really have to be able to try them on to determine the quality!

Thanks for the advice Georgie! Now that I think about it – there’s not a MK bag that has the style I’m really into: one that fits my laptop and daily essentials!

  2. You look lovely Pauline ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you Emily โค๏ธ

  3. Aw I love you outfit, you look so pretty and summery. I really love long car journeys too, I just sit there and day dream as well, it is so relaxing! I think MK bags are sooo nice, and they are definitely worth the money if you will be using it a lot!

    1. Thank you lovely โค๏ธ I like them a lot too but I don’t know if I’ll actually get one seeing as they don’t really fit my everyday essentials! Maybe I’ll buy a MK purse instead.

  4. Hi Pauline, thanks so much for stopping my blog & leaving a sweet comment ๐Ÿ˜‰ Loving your blog and will follow you on Bloglovin’ – you can find me there as well: https://www.bloglovin.com/blogs/miel-mint-14349829
Such a sweet post, really loved it! Glad you enjoyed York (I’ve never been but my friend used to live there). As for MK, I am a full-on advocate for them! I own one (a gift from hubby on our honeymoon) + a wallet and I am in love with both of them! They are definitely a bit on the pricey side (not too much comparing to Mulberry though!) but definitely worth it <3

    1. I will definitely follow you there too!

Thank you so much Nadia! They definitely out of the price range I’m used to – but if they are worth it then I will buy it! I’m just struggling to find one that fits my daily essentials!

  5. I haven’t been to York in years but it’s such a beautiful city to visit.

I think the Michael Kors bags are out of my price range. If I could find a classic style that would last for years then I would be more likely to invest, but really I haven’t had a good look at their bags.

    I love your dress!

    1. It is definitely super beautiful, it was my first time visiting York!

Yeah, it definitely is out of my price range also as of now! I am still considering on getting it and trying to justify my purchase haha, but I need one that fits my daily essentials.

      Thank you so much!

  6. Ooooh! It’s always fun visiting new places! York sounds lovely . . . heck all of UK sounds lovely, and I’d totally go there in a heartbeat if I had the financial funds now! :3

Michael Kors products are nice. I like them because I find them to be a bit cheaper than Coach. I want a Michael Kors wallet one of these days XD

    1. Haha, UK is so pretty but the weather is honestly the crazy sometimes! You should come, it is lovely and only rains 80% of the time ๐Ÿ˜‰

Yeah me too! I really want a MK wallet too – I found a replica/looks the same style by a brand called Parfois – its really cute too!

  7. Cute outfit! You visited a new place and that’s awesome. While MK bags are beautiful, I find they are ridiculously overpriced, but that’s just me. Doesn’t mean I haven’t seen a whole lot of them and can admire them for their beauty and craftsmanship.

    1. Thanks Michelle!
They are overpriced but are SO beautiful it’s hard to resist!

      xx

  8. Did you go to York’s Designer Outlet by any chance? I’ve been there once before, really enjoyed it, but I mainly ended up buying silly things cos a lot of things were quite expensive. And I’m not really into designer labels either, so was probably a mistake going haha.

Love your outfit – nice to see the UK looking cheery for once!

    1. Hi Amy!

Yes I did – it was my first time there, it’s so pretty! Are you not? I’m not a BIG fan but they are eye candy for sure! ๐Ÿ˜›

      Thank you sweetie!
      xx

  9. Aw! Welcome back to the blogosphere. You’ve been missed <3

Everyone has been to York, I feel like I need to go now! It looks pretty and what lovely weather ๐Ÿ™‚ I'm not really a fan of MK, to be honest or any designer bags BUT I did see this TedBaker bag that was gorgeous and I've had my eye on it for a while ๐Ÿ™‚

    Love your outfit!

    1. Aww you! Thank you Chynna – missed it so much!

You haven’t been to York? You need to girl! Not only is it a shopping heaven but the sights and the inner city areas are so pretty! I love TedBaker bags too, gah!

      Thank you sweetheart <3

  10. Aww, I loved your OOTD

    your photos look awesome!

    1. Thank you so much hun!

  11. pauliiiineeee!! I never knew your new blog until I actually saw your twitter profile, lol. and in case you’re wondering who i am, it’s @milkboxed from twitter and i used to visit your blog a lot when it was still…uh, what was that url again? bubblekiss something? wait. that’s your tumblr though, was it not? ..i forgot.

i’m not a huge fan of bags and i mostly wear backpacks that are, well, “cartoon-y”, like what they mostly show in japanese magazines, you know? harajuku-ish. so i don’t really have fancy ladies bag like michael kors or anything. BUT i do agree that MK has nice collection though i’m more of a lover of Chanel ๐Ÿ˜›

    pretty OOTD btw! :3

    1. Omg hi Alice! Yeah, I just opened it and went back into the blogosphere a few weeks ago! Its super fun and exciting as always :’) It was mortal-beauty hahaha, omg so many memories!

I love cartoony bags too, they look more practical! I just use fancy ladies bags because they look good with most of my outfits! Chanel is good too ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thank you hun! Your comment really made me smile :”) Hope you’re doing well!
