Wardrobe update must-haves

< STYLE >

It’s been a very long two months of hardcore revision, exam stress and breakdowns but today finally marks the end of my first semester exams! I went to celebrate with an Asian-style buffet and will reward myself later with sleeping in tomorrow until 9 pm. Ah, the three days of freedom (until semester two starts again) is going to be goooood.

This new semester for many other students may be a chance to restart both mind, soul and wardrobe. I know what you’re thinking – but Pauline wasn’t one of your resolutions not to buy clothes??? ACTUALLY, I said “limit”; didn’t say the limit though πŸ˜‰ (In all honesty though, I’ve been good at not spending money on clothes in the last month.)

Do you ever feel like your outfit is a solid 10/10 but not a lot of people see you that day? Ahaha, I feel this all the time. I’ve been inspired recently by fashion bloggers recently to start making a fashion related blog post every month that I’ve decided to name “< STYLE >” Because we all need style to style HTML, right? Similar to dressing ourselves.

Today, I’ll be sharing my must-haves for this new semester/upcoming spring season!

One of my everyday outfits is loose-fitting or baggy jumpers, like this green knit sweater. My wardrobe is already filled with a variety of different coloured sweaters like these. The thing about them is that they are relaxed but stylish at the same time!

It’s always randomly cold here in England especially during the spring, so even if the sun is out I always try and leave the house with a coat or jacket. A classic trench coat is what I always opt for – automatically chic. On the other spectrum, a more “I just threw it on look”- bomber jackets; I’ve been so obsessed with these over the last year!

No matter what season, I’m always up to wear a cute dress whether that be for university, for a lunch date or just at least one day in a week! Dresses like this gorgeous chiffon floral dress instantly make you look like you put an effort but – fun fact – the days I usually wear dresses are my lazy or running late days. Come on, I mustn’t be the only one? I’d pair this one with a cute cardigan during colder weather!

I’m currently in my “shirt” phase in fashion, where I start having a collection of different types of shirts (collared or non-collared like this one) in different colours. I love them because of how versatile I can style them, countless trousers or skirts! Striped shirts are a staple in my wardrobe though, makes me feel a little like a casual, off-duty Victoria Secret angel.

Those are just a few pieces that could be on your list for your new spring/semester wardrobe! This post is a collaboration with Dresslink.com who gave me a chance to showcase my style using the lovely range available on their site. Currently, they have a flash sale and free shipping available so be sure to have a look around – you might find something you like! For those interested, they do run “Asian” sizes so if you’re a size 8, you’ll have to buy a medium. I will be leaving a review on them in a few weeks once I’ve received my own items from them, so stick around if you’re wanting to know my own perspective on it!

  1. Have you heard of Dresslink.com? Or any other Asian online shopping sites e.g YesStyle.com?
  2. What’s your must-have item for the upcoming season?

  1. I love all these outfits, though I don’t think any of these would look good on me because of my stature and frame. Though, this will soon change as I’m tired of being overweight and not eating right. I used to before I started college, but that soon changed. Anyways, I just wanted to say that you should do what makes you happy. If you want to purchase some new clothes, go for it, I know I will be shortly. I am just waiting on some money to roll in so I can get more than $25 worth of clothes. I am actually wearing the same clothes that I had when I started college a year ago. WOW! Oh! On your continue reading link, it isn’t aligned with the border-top. In fact, it is interfering with the border-top of the comments section on the front page. Just thought you should know so you can fix that :).

    1. Thank you for notifying me Jamie! I couldn’t see it myself but I do think it was the header! I’ve changed it now, let me know if you run into any other problems πŸ™‚

Thank you! I have been resisting the urge to, I’m proud of myself! πŸ˜‰

  2. In my school we would have a month break between the first and second semester. 3 days just doesn’t seem enough to recuperate from the stress.

  3. Some cute stuff! I especially like the coat (always loved trench coats) and the skirt outfit. =3

  4. Congratulations on reaching the end of the first semester. Sorry to hear that it has been very busy and stressful, but hopefully it will all be worth it in the long run. πŸ˜€

I really love the outfits and clothes that you picked, they look so nice!

  5. I love those sweaters. I need more of them – I only have a stripy red and white one (which I don’t like too much) and a lime green one (which is hard to find the right weather for haha), but you’re right, they look relaxed but stylish.

I don’t have a great trench coat, but I have a coat with buttons and a belt that is in a sort of simple military style. I think they are timeless. πŸ™‚

I can’t really do floral skirts or dresses very well, they don’t look great on me. I love dresses though, very easy to dress up with a coat or a jacket too.

It’s summer for me right now, I am into loose sleeveless tank-style tops. Not a fan of thin straps or crop tops, to be honest. I think my general must-haves are short tube skirts and long A-line high waisted skirts (look good on everyone). And cardigans are great and versatile.

  6. I’ve never ever heard of this website, but I have to try on clothes due to my size/weight/height, and body proportions, but those outfits are cute.

I usually go to thrift stores to get clothes. Only have a few new articles of clothing, myself. Can’t afford to get new clothes.

  7. Congrats on making it to the end of the term and best of luck with the upcoming one!

I like your style! I haven’t heard of Dresslink but I have purchased things from YesStyle in the past. Those asian sizes really throw you off. D; Of the 3 things I bought, only one fit me because it was a baggy shirt. I ended up losing money in the end after returning and shipping things back. I held on to the credit they gave me for awhile because it was hard to find something that I liked. I look forward to hearing your review of this site!

  8. Aahh, I love classic trench coats! They have such a nice, classy look about them πŸ™‚ I also really like that chiffon floral dress. It’s very cute and pretty! I haven’t heard of Dresslink, but I have browsed YesStyle before. It’s been a while since I last used an Asian online shopping site since I tend to buy things in-store!

  9. Love the trench coat. They are definitely classic and chic. I don’t have one myself, but it is something I wouldn’t mind having one day.

My favourite top is the layered look with a jumper and a collared shirt. I love that look. It’s simple, yet very chic and easy on the eyes.

Otherwise, I have nothing else that interests me. Clothes are just not really my thing except for maybe hoodies LOL

  10. Good luck with all of your school stuff! Good to hear that you celebrated your hard work pretty well with a buffet ;). I always feel that my style is on point but people say otherwise xD. ~haters gonna hate~

I am loving the trench coat and dress! The dress looks appropriate for even the office so it’s a win-win. I’ve never shopped at these sites before, but I’ve heard of them once in a while. What I need are new shoes! Preferably booties XD

  11. Love your new layout, so cute. πŸ™‚ ahah I definitely know that feeling when you’re really proud of what you’ve worn, but bump into no one that day, or don’t even end up being out for long. The floral skirt/dress here is really nice, definitely something I need in my wardrobe.

  12. You have good eyes for clothes. I love your picks. For me, my must have would be a coat. It looks really good for all occasion actually πŸ™‚

  13. I love the coat! I’d definitely buy that if I needed a new one. Could do with getting a lighter coat for summer. I only have two winter coats and a leather jacket.

I’ve never heard of those sites. I’m going to be investing in a couple of dresses this spring, and some skirts as well. Hopefully it’ll be warm enough for me to walk to work in those!

Good luck with next semester! I definitely don’t miss how intense uni is.
    Xxx

  14. πŸ™‚ Well played.

Trenchcoats and bomber jackets are love! <3

  15. Yay, you must be so happy your exams are over! I love your idea, that’s awesome πŸ™‚

  16. These pieces look lovely! πŸ™‚ This post is tempting me to go shopping for new clothes, it’s been so long! πŸ˜›

I love the trench coat. I love how it looks so classy, and the color… Oooh. It’s to die for!

  17. I find that breaks are the best time to update your wardrobe! I’m glad I’m not the only one that does this! My friends back home say I shop all the time, but it’s just because everytime I’m home it’s break and I need new clothes, haha!

I love the sweaters that are comfortable but still very stylish! I find them hard to find, though – I just have one but I wear it quite a bit! My go to outfits recently have been ones with cardigans, I think I’m starting to dress much more professionally!

I love all your outfit choices!

  18. Congrats on powering through those exams — you did it!

You can never go wrong with a classic trench! And I so hear you on the striped shirts; they strike that wonderful balance between dressy and casual that’s often too difficult to achieve with just one product. As for shops, I’m really into Front Row Shop, which is based in Shanghai, and for must-have items, I’m on the prowl for some statement jewelry pieces. I feel like I have so much in my wardrobe already that I need to give my accessory rack some love!

  19. Generally I do not read post on blogs, but I would like to say that this write-up very pressured me to take a look at and do so! Your writing style has been amazed me. Thanks, quite nice post.

  20. I am extremely impressed with your writing skills as well as with the layout on your blog. Is this a paid theme or did you customize it yourself? Either way keep up the nice quality writing, it is rare to see a nice blog like this one nowadays..

  21. Hello, i think that i saw you visited my site thus i came to eturn the favor?I’m attempting to find things to improve my site!I suppose its ok to use a few of your ideas!!
