Awesome Places to Eat #01

Over the past week, I’ve cheated a little bit with my clean eating streak and treated myself  (and was treated) to a bunch of awesome places to eat (with equally amazing company!)  Whenever I plan to go out and eat out with friends or not, I naturally sway towards Italian food but I’m glad I tried a range of different places this week (although I did have Italian twice, oops.)

Wasabisabi

One of the few restaurants (if not, the only) Japanese restaurant in Sheffield that does Teppanyaki. We didn’t manage to get a reservation for it (it books out fast!), we still had awesome Japanese food. I’ve been to this restaurant quite a few times before and is where I had my experience with wasabi. ? You can read about that here.

Also: please can someone teach me how to use chopsticks because I c a n n o t.

A second after this photo was taken, I asked for a spoon and fork.

Gigi’s

This was down on my calendar as a ? date so naturally had to dress for the occasion ? This has to be one of cutest, authentic Italian restaurants I’ve ever been to. Everyone who works here also has an Italian accent – I love it!

Rissoto & mushrooms

New Italian

I was lucky enough to have Italian for lunch the following day during my work trip. I’ve talked about New Italian before and it never ever disappoints.

Have I mentioned how much I love Italian food?

Thali Cafe

I had gone to the Thali cafe for my Christmas work do and loved it! So when I was “surprised” to go there again I couldn’t say no.

I also love spicy food and everything was hawt, hawt, hawwwwt.

Thank you, Joe โœจ

Edo sushi

The final “treat” for the week to help with workflow. Started the week with Japanese food and ended with more Japanese food. I think I was better at using chopsticks at this point – sorta. I even learned how to dip it in soy sauce without it falling off (sorta)

A lot of people don’t think that I can “go out” to eat because of my ‘healthier’ lifestyle but it doesn’t mean I’m gonna say no to life (i.e. Italian *cough*), you know? Sure, I don’t know the exact macro split or number of calories but I know that my โค is lovvvvvingggg it.

  1. guuurl, master that chopsticks plz! LOL jk but no, seriously though… ๐Ÿ˜›

dang, i’m reading this post in the middle of the night. bad idea. dang those sushi urgh i’m almost drooling right now lol

  2. Italian is definitely my favourite too! Me and Andy are going to our local Italian (also called Gigi’s) for Valentine’s Day, and I’m already looking forward to it. Definitely getting pizza and pasta and garlic mushrooms, even though I can guarantee I’ll have to take most of the pizza home to eat later.

All the food looks lovely, especially pasta and risotto! I also can’t eat with chopsticks, and feel so embarrassed every time I have to ask for a knife and fork. I don’t know how people do it!

I’m glad that you still treat yourself every now and again, as well as clean eating. I know I couldn’t miss out on food like this!

  4. The food looks delicious. I honestly prefer Asian food though haha But what actually caught my attention is your beauty. You look so pretty OMG I wish I am as healthy-looking as you.

  5. Yay food! XD I love italian too, but I grew up eating a lot of that. I never learned how to use chopsticks myself! ^^;; But sounds like lots of lovely food!

  6. I’ve never used chopsticks but I imagine that I would be bad at it too ?

That’s great that you’ve been getting out and experimenting and it looks like you had a lot of delicious food.

The only Italian food I like is pizza and garlic bread, I guess I’ll have to fix that so I can understand what all the hype is about.

  7. Lovely places, they all seem really nice. I struggled with the chopsticks too, at the new Japanese restaurant in Manchester. :))

  8. It’s fine to treat yourself to a few cheat meals as long as it makes you happy ;). You’re not the only one who doesn’t know how to properly use chopsticks XD. Japanese food is the best!

The Italian food looks so fancy! The prices don’t look bad at all :). New Italian won my heart with the penne dish~

I love how you get a bit of everything at Thali Cafe! I’m glad Joe took you out there :). Oohooooo the roe nigiri won my heart too XD. I think the type of chopsticks makes a big impact. I’m better with sushi when it comes to pointy chopsticks compared to traditional fat Chinese chopsticks.

  9. I love Italian food too! I’m not really into Western cuisine (I prefer Asian food) but Italian food rocks! ๐Ÿ™‚

Lol, I hope you learn how to use chopsticks soon ๐Ÿ˜› If you were ever in Taipei or Manila I would be glad to teach you how to use those. But if all else fails, you can always ask for the kiddie chopsticks with grips for beginners learning how to use chopsticks ๐Ÿ˜€

  10. TREAT YO’ SELF 2017.

I’ve been to a Teppanyaki restaurant and it was awesome. It’s a shame you didn’t manage to get a reservation, but there’s always next time. I’m certain you will love it. Ain’t you a cute one <3 Is that ramen? (Dear Lord, thank you for all the noodles I'm about to eat. Ramen.)

    I love that red dress!

Girl, you really love Italian food. Haha. That's how I feel about Mexican food ๐Ÿ˜›

Omg, the Indian food looked amazing. My mouth was drooling when I saw it on Instagram. I love spicy food, as well! All the food looks delicious, hmmmmmm. Can't wait until our food date โค๏ธ

  11. All these food pics are making me super hungry, Pauline! I don’t think there’s anything wrong with breaking your clean eating streak a little, especially if it means you get to eat food that makes you really happy. I simply adore Japanese food and it has got be my favourite cuisine – I try to stay away from the wasabi though! I could eat salmon sashimi for days on end if I could. And yay for authentic Italian restaurants – the one I frequent in my hometown is so warm and welcoming and the food is just brilliant. Thanks for sharing your wonderful food-filled week, Pauline!

  12. True, there is a lot of good alternative food out there ๐Ÿ˜€ I just won’t eat it XD Still this all looks good!

  13. Yum, all of that food looks good! Japanese food is one of my favorites, though I don’t think I’ve gone to a Teppanyaki place yet. Those always look fun though. Oh, and if you have trouble with chopsticks and sushi, you can use your hands! That’s actually an acceptable way to eat sushi!

Aahh, that rissoto photo is making me crave some. I haven’t had it in a while now! I think it’s good to treat yourself now and then ๐Ÿ™‚ Sure, eating in is usually healthier, but a break to eat out is nice!

  14. TREAT YO SELF. (I thought about trying to add a parks and recreation gif here, but I don’t know if WordPress comments support that haha).

Nice work on the chopsticks in the photo! I learned how to use them in primary school when we had a Japanese teacher visiting. I think it was the only thing I remembered…

Honestly, all of this food looks so delicious. I am so hungry right now.

  15. Wow those food looks really yummy!

  16. asdklfjkladsfjkldjklsf EVERYTHING LOOKS SO GOOD!

Holy crappppp! I just had a delicious roast beef sandwich and carrot cake, but seeing your photos here are making me hungry all over again! Yum!

    Chopsticks are tricky — I use them all right, but I don’t think I’ve ever quite mastered them like my mum. I know a part of it is due to my not-so-good fine motor skills, but I’ve improved a lot since elementary school, so that’s something XD;

Italian food is one of my favourite, but they are so not carb friendly. Whyyyyyy. Why must all the food I adore be heavy with carbs? ๐Ÿ™ And is Thali Cafe Indian? It looks Indian, but I am not 100% sure. I love Indian food, even if their curries like to react horribly with my digestive system.

Thank you for sharing your awesome eats. I’ll now have to look at your next AE posts . . . before I eat? That way I’m super hungry and can satisfy it then ๐Ÿ˜€

  17. Haha I love Italian food but I make sure I get a salad on the side or something. I wouldnโ€™t even call pasta a cheat meal… everything in moderation! Yum yum yum! You deserve to eat whatever you want when you have been working hard. I am away from home at the moment and I brought my gym gear because I was planning to hit up a gym during my mini holiday-work-stint (cos I am technically still working) but I am just eating whatever I want. Because I can! I havenโ€™t taken a break from the gym and part of this โ€œhealthyโ€ lifestyle is letting yourself be OK with eating food with more carbs and being OK with taking a break from the gym.

I would teach you how to use chopsticks! Funny though, my Australian friends said that they learned solely from having lunch with me all the time (I eat Japanese food a lot). I think it just takes practice! ๐Ÿ™‚ I used to use them the wrong way until I learned the right way, and I got the hang of it.
